‘Resolve and Resilience’: College Class of 2024 Launches Forth

Julie Mirambo, seen here presenting work on a recent internship, is one of many graduating seniors launching into exciting careers.

On May 11, the Class of 2024 closed a consequential college career. What began in a global pandemic concluded with a soaring commencement address on courage, illuminating the enormous progress of overcoming adversity and the historic milestones that this collection of graduates have achieved.

Among the graduates crossing the Cox Auditorium stage were rugby national champions, three-time international Mediation champions, young inventors, world travelers, and more. But what lies before them is sure to dwarf the accomplishments of the last four years. “I am so excited to see what this extraordinary group of graduates can accomplish,” says Career Center Director Carrie Silver-Stock (C’95). “They have shown resolve and resilience, but more than that, a curiosity and collaborative spirit that is sure to launch them to success in any field they pursue.”

Among the destinations for this small but mighty group were:

  • United States Air Force Reserves

  • University of Southern California Law School

  • MilliporeSigma, a health and sciences innovator

  • First Church of Christ, Scientist

  • Pratt Institute School of Art

  • Deloitte, a global management consulting firm

  • Restoration St. Louis, a real-estate developer and community revitalization team

Director of Land Stewardship and Professor of Biology and Natural Resources Dr. John Lovseth (C’05), who mentored many of these graduates, commented on the skills they bring to the workforce and beyond. “These students have been getting firsthand experience in real-world settings—doing nearly Masters-level work and taking on professional projects from day one. They are primed to go forward and become change agents in their communities.”

The Principia community bids a loving farewell and a hearty congratulations to the Class of 2024!
